  • Description
  • Setting the Bend Force
When using radius tools, the necessary bending force (tonnage) is typically higher than that required for air bending with standard V-dies. This is because radius bending often involves coining or bottoming the material to fully set the desired radius and minimize springback. Operators must accurately calculate the required force and adjust the press brake down-stroke to ensure full penetration without overloading the machine or causing excessive material thinning at the bend point.

    Enhanced Tools Aesthetics
Radius bending significantly enhances the aesthetic quality of finished products. A clearly defined, consistent round edge is often preferred in consumer goods, architectural panels, and enclosures over the sharp creases produced by standard bending. Using dedicated radius tools ensures a uniform appearance across all parts, contributing to a professional, high-end look and eliminating visual inconsistencies often seen when trying to mimic a radius using air bending.
